Pour Three Ways
Most people only pour in one direction, usually up, because that's the direction that feels most obviously useful to their own goals. I try to pour in all three, in the same season, because that's what actually builds a real ecosystem around you instead of just a ladder.
Pour up means investing in someone further along than me. I ask better questions than I used to. I learn just by being near people who've already solved the problem I'm working on. Their ceiling becomes my floor if I pay attention.
Pour across is collaboration, not competition. Making an introduction, sharing an opportunity before I'm asked, publicly acknowledging someone's work. It's the direction people neglect most because it doesn't feel as urgent as pouring up.
Pour down means sharing what I know before I have to, opening a door I had to find on my own. This one matters the most to me personally, because someone did it for me, and I don't think you get to keep what you were given if you never pass it on. A builder does all three at once. Most people are still figuring out how to do just one.
