The Three Domains
Across my conversations with CMOs, founders and operators, three domains keep coming up, and they're connected.
The first is how work gets done. AI is collapsing the cost of execution for knowledge work. Content, research synthesis, campaign ops, analysis. Work that took a team of three to five is getting done by one or two people with the right tooling. One CMO described building a headless marketing organization, and that's not a cost-cutting story, it's an architecture story. The same way headless commerce decoupled the front end from the back end, headless marketing decouples capability from headcount. The org becomes a set of capabilities, and AI is the connective tissue.
The second is how talent is invested. Leaders who would have grown a team by ten to fifteen in a previous cycle are growing by two or three and expecting the same or more. That's not a correction. It's a structural reset. It puts a premium on operators who can work across AI tooling, creates a new archetype who is part strategist and part systems designer, and holds individuals to what teams used to deliver. The talent market isn't shrinking. It's bifurcating into people who compound with AI and people who don't.
The third is go-to-market, on both sides at once. That one gets its own framework below.
